Affiliate marketing is a way of making money online whereby an affiliate (otherwise referred to as a publisher) is paid a certain amount (usually a percentage of the cost of the product being promoted) whenever someone purchases a product through his/her affiliate link.

In simpler terms, affiliate marketing lets people earn money by promoting or selling other people's products.

Affiliate marketing is actually very similar to traditional marketing where sales people are paid commissions whenever they make a sale. The only difference is that affiliate marketing is done online.
